Smoooooooothies! Nearly every day, that’s my breakfast. Thick, thin, green, orange, purple, lots, a little — your way. I like to keep it simple with frozen fruit, juice and/or almond milk, fresh bananas, some greens, and vegan protein powder. There are so many luscious ways to combine fruits and vegetables with various superfoods in a smoothie; when they turn out extra-delicious I’ll post them for you. This morning’s is a triple berry deep fuschia easy-easy blend. Coconut butter adds flavor and medium-chain triglycerides. (yes, we need some fat to function!) To pack this with protein, toss in a handful of hemp seed or a scoop of vegan protein powder. (I like decadently sweet vanilla Spirutein.) This is a nice hefty one-person smoothie. thicken it (more fruit less liquid but good luck even with a Vitamix),
ramp up your nutrition score for the morning with greens (most of my smoothies have greens),
turn it into dessert by using 1 c dark chocolate almond milk and lessening amount of cherry juice,
or play with amount of coconut butter/add flaked coconut for incredible flavor!
